About

 About the Captain

Griffith J Slaughter graduated from Lakehead University in 2001 with an Honours Degree in Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism. As a child, he spent countless summers on the Ottawa River with his family, exploring the islands and beaches, and taking regular trips to Oiseaux Rock, the Fort and Deep River. In the summer of '98, he worked as a Guest Services Manager at Wiley Point Lodge in Lake of the Woods, Ontario. In the summer of '99, he moved to Silver Water Wheel Lodge, north of Dryden, ON on Lac Seul — the second largest inland lake in Ontario.

Griffith has excellent experience and knowledge of being on the water and will ensure guests have the best time possible. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was fortunate enough to be able to spend over 140 hours on the water, between Lac Ste Marie and the Ottawa River. Realizing what a wonderful experience it was, he resolved to figure out how to get more people on the water. Since he owned his own professional surf and ski boat, of which there were very few in the area, he decided this was the best way to share his joy of the water. Thus, the Griff Slaughter Experience was born.

As a professional NCCP coach and expert in skiing, soccer and water sports, Griffith is able to teach people new to sports in a safe and secure manner. When there are groups of under 13 with children, his two sons, Aidan James (13) and Jonah Robert (10) will join to help guide young guests. A true family business.
